Romans 5 12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:(KJV) Yes, this is true, but it does not agree with your position. Look at what it says. By one man sin entered into the world. That is true. And death by sin. Again true. But the passing of death onto all men is not because of Adam's sin. Look at what it says. Death is passed upon all men because ALL have sinned. Our position is that all men choose sin, and because they do choose sin, death then passes onto them. Think about it. Death passes upon all men because all men choose sin. Under your understanding of the verse, death must have passed onto children before any choice to sin has occurred. Sin, if passed by inheritance, would require death to be passed on at the same time, before any choice to sin has occurrred. This would violate God's justice principle: De 24:16 'Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall the children be put to death for their fathers; a person shall be put to death for his own sin. If sin is passed by inheritance, then death is passed by inheritance and God then would be condemning children to Hell for the sins of their parents. If your understanding was the correct one, then it would have to read: Romans 5 12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so sin was passed upon all men, for that Adam sinned:(KJV) That is not what it says, but it is what you apparently think it says. Who is the literalist here? I contend I am the literalist here. wm
